UB40 became popular after performing during a tour during which the band performed with such popular musicians as the Pretenders. Their own release called "Food For Thought" which was issued in 1980 became a real hit and a chart-topper, and was extremely popular, especially in their home country. After that hit the band was said to be one of the most popular ones.
